MARC is an autonomous, non-governmental dispute resolution center based in Mauritius.
MARC was established in 1996 as an initiative of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (“MCCI”) to provide the business community with quick, efficient, flexible and confidential means of resolving disputes, through mediation or arbitration, as alternatives to litigation before state courts.
Through the years, MARC has evolved and it revamped its structure in 2017 and released a more modern and adapted set of procedural rules in 2018.
Since 2020, MARC became an independent entity registered as a company limited by shares under the name of “The Mediation and Arbitration Center (Mauritius) Ltd”.
MARC is now a well-established Arbitral Institution that is well regarded by corporations, governments, the legal sector and other private sector stakeholders in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean region.

1855
MARC has conducted arbitrations as far back as 1855 under the auspices of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry “MCCI”.
1996
MCCI Permanent Court of Arbitration was established in 1996 as an initiative of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (“MCCI”) to provide the business community with quick, efficient, flexible and confidential means of resolving disputes, through mediation or arbitration, as alternatives to litigation before state courts.
2012
In 2012, MCCI PCA has been rebranded to the MCCI Mediation and Arbitration Centre (MARC).
2017
Setting up of a new governance structure namely the MARC Court and MARC Advisory Board comprising of the world’s finest arbitration experts. MARC Court is headed by Mr. Neil Kaplan and MARC Advisory Board by Dr. Jalal El- Ahdab.
2018
In May 2018, MARC has adopted a new set of Arbitration Rules, based on international best practices drawn from leading arbitration institutions.
2020
Since 2020, MARC became an independent entity registered as a company limited by shares under the name of “The Mediation and Arbitration Center (Mauritius) Ltd”. MARC is now a well-established Arbitral Institution that is well regarded by corporations, governments, the legal sector and other private sector stakeholders in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean region.
