MARC is one of the top preferred institution in Africa which has a proven track record of cases. It has efficient appointment of neutral and qualified arbitrators and mediators. MARC has also state-of-the art hearing facilities providing world-leading hearing services.

MARC has an experienced MARC Court and MARC Advisory Board comprising of 17 and 16 members worldwide respectively. MARC’s internal database of Arbitrators and Mediators also comprises of experts across the globe.

The MARC Rules provide a state-of-the-art procedural framework for efficient, expert and enforceable resolution of international disputes of all sizes and complexities involving parties from diverse legal systems and cultures. We also have a transparent financial management of cases allowing legal representatives to provide their clients with accurate cost projections, timelines and costs for each stage of the arbitration process. Key Facts about The MARC

A Respected Neutral Arbitral Institution

Arbitration is not a novel concept in Mauritius. MARC has conducted arbitrations as far back as 1855 under the auspices of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry “MCCI”. Through its years of existence, MARC has evolved and revamped its structures.

An International Organisation with Global Outlook

26% of all arbitrations submitted to MARC were international in nature, i.e., at least one party was not from Mauritius. 6% of all arbitrations submitted to MARC from 2014 to 2022 involved no Mauritian parties. Parties from many jurisdictions participated in the arbitrations submitted to MARC. The top seven geographical origins or nationalities of these parties were: Mauritius, France, Madagascar, England, Congo, South Africa & UAE.

MARC facilitates the efficient resolution of Disputes

The total amount in dispute in all arbitration cases administered by MARC since 2014 was approximately MUR 2.65 billion (approximately 60 million USD at a rate of USD 1 = MUR 45). Average amount per dispute is approximately MUR 75 million (approximately 1.65 million USD)
